The Privacy Network Filter(Pi Hole) is a network-wide ad and tracker blocker that functions as a DNS sinkhole. All devices on the network (such as smartphones, tablets, laptops, smart TVs and IoT devices) benefit from the protection without the need to install additional software on each device.
How does Pi-hole work?
- DNS filtering: Pi-hole acts as a DNS server for your network. When a device on the network makes a request to load a Web site or service, Pi-hole checks to see if the request goes to an ad or tracker domain. If it is, Pi-hole blocks the request and the ad or tracker is not loaded.
- Blacklists: Pi-hole uses blacklists (blocklists) of known ad and tracker domains. These lists are regularly updated to block new domains.
- Statistics and monitoring: Pi-hole provides a Web interface where you can view real-time statistics, such as the number of blocked requests, the most visited domains and more. This provides insight into the traffic on your network.
- Customizability: You can customize Pi-hole by manually adding domains to a whitelist (allowed domains) or a blacklist (blocked domains). This allows you to allow or block specific websites or services.

Installation and support
